AI assistance in the current edition

OpenAI Codex, Google Antigravity and Google Gemini · 2026

Assistance with the update of Proyecto AD: code development and review, mobile-responsive interface design, accessibility and navigation improvements, bibliography organisation, and documentary searches for sources and publications with OpenAI Codex; section-by-section technical and archaeological auditing, documentary and bibliographic integration, operational-chain plate composition and multilingual review with Google Antigravity; and video animation and sound generation for the salt, maize, cotton and mute-dog hunting sequences using Google Gemini.

Assistance with maps, visualisations and contemporary graphics, identifying their sources and distinguishing recreations. This work uses artificial intelligence tools under the direction, review and approval of Julián de Jesús Pérez Ríos.

The principle of hybrid intelligence

The use of artificial intelligence is disclosed as part of the process. It does not replace authorship, the provenance of evidence, scholarly review or the obligation to distinguish observation, inference and educational recreation.

Translation into available languages and editorial review

Proyecto AD, 2026. Translation and editorial review across all seven available language editions—Spanish, English, Simplified Chinese, Portuguese, French, Namtrik (the language of the indigenous Misak people) and Arabic—assisted by Google Antigravity and OpenAI Codex, under the editorial direction of Julián de Jesús Pérez Ríos. Final approval of the texts and their publication rests with the author.

The work covers Introduction, The Extent of Space, Timeline, How stones ‘speak’, Conditions for living, Symbolism and Credits. It preserves distinctions between evidence, inference and hypothesis, archaeological terminology and the project’s reference numbering. Publication titles and institutional names retain their original languages so that readers can identify them.

Versions are prepared section by section and retained for review before publication. Translating texts and controls does not imply dubbing audiovisual material or replacing text embedded in images.

Editorial process · Antigravity and Codex

Review and publication methodology

The review of the 2026 multilingual edition followed six stages, with AI assistance and under the author’s editorial direction.

Collecting and preserving the originals

Phase 1: Preparation

Gathering the complete file package and retaining a baseline copy to compare changes and recover earlier versions.

Planning the audit with Antigravity

AI: Antigravity

Defining the context, behavioural rules, scope and verification criteria. Within this project, “Karpathy Method” refers to organising the work through explicit instructions, context and checks on the results.

Initiating the audit

Preparation

Preparing a prompt—a written work instruction—setting out the objectives, constraints and sequence in which sections are reviewed.

Section-by-section audit · Antigravity

AI: Antigravity

Technical, archaeological, editorial and multilingual review of each section, covering content, sources, translations, references, links and multimedia resources.

Corrections and verification · Antigravity

AI: Antigravity

Applying the identified changes, checking consistency across all seven language editions, and recording corrections and the resulting versions.

Web integration and publication · Codex

Codex

Adapting the audited package to the hosting environment, preserving private services, publishing public files and checking the live site.

Public access and permission to reuse

Public access to Proyecto AD does not constitute blanket permission to reuse its content. Third-party materials retain their individual conditions of use. For permission requests and collaboration proposals, contact the project director. Applicable statutory exceptions and limitations remain in effect.

This notice does not grant a general Creative Commons licence or alter licences or permissions already applicable to particular materials.

Content and editorial work

Julián de Jesús Pérez Ríos directs the project’s research, content selection and review, academic organisation and visual approach. The current edition incorporates new discussions, texts, images and interactive resources.

Any rights legally applicable to his original human contributions are retained. This acknowledgement does not assert exclusive ownership of the entire historical multimedia work, its sources or materials by other authors.

Current code and interface

The 2026 technological update includes navigation, adaptation for mobile phones and tablets, graphic exploration, image enlargement and bibliographic search tools. Development and review were carried out with assistance from OpenAI Codex under the direction, review and approval of Julián de Jesús Pérez Ríos.

The code is not offered here under a free software or Creative Commons licence. Only existing rights in original, protectable contributions are reserved; no exclusive rights are asserted over automatically generated code without protectable human creation. Photographs and AI-assisted recreations

Photographs retain the authorship and provenance stated in their captions and in the visual record. AI-assisted recreations, maps and infographics identify their production process and the sources that inform them.

Such a credit documents production; it does not confer exclusive rights on AI outputs where the law does not recognise them. Recreating an image does not, by itself, extinguish rights that may subsist in the reference material.

Sources and project identity

Quotations, documents, photographs, cartography, data and other third-party materials retain their individual conditions of use. Attribution of a source does not amount to blanket permission to reproduce it.

The name and logo identify Proyecto AD; this notice does not authorise their use to imply institutional endorsement or partnership. Nor does it establish exclusive rights over facts, ideas or elements in the public domain.

Permissions and partnerships for public communication

Current attribution draws on the 2007 credits PDF, original captions, available file information and explicit corrections made during the update.

Visual record update · 16 October 2026

Verifiable cartography produced from the cited institutions’ data is retained. Replacement of third-party photographs and illustrations with AI-generated recreations proceeds section by section and is not yet complete. Historical credits are retained to document provenance, even when an image no longer appears in a gallery.

In The Extent of Space, the reproduction attributed to Hernández Carmona (2003) was replaced in the local version by an AI-generated interpretive schematic of San Cristóbal and its surroundings. The schematic is neither to scale nor georeferenced and provides no independent evidence for the use, age or abandonment of paths. Its documentary source remains identified; the original figure and page still require checking.

Provenance record · historical archive and current resources

The following record retains documented attributions, including the update of 27 September 2026 concerning ten photographs of the Niquía–San Pedro de los Milagros path on Quitasol hill, Bello. Inclusion of a person or institution does not mean that all their materials remain visible in current galleries or that institutional endorsement has been given.

The maize production sequence · Multilingual edition

Direction, concept and scene selection: Julián de Jesús Pérez Ríos, Proyecto AD. Illustrations generated with OpenAI; animations created with Google Gemini; editing and assembly assisted by OpenAI Codex. Sound taken from the supplied clips, with level adjustments and fades; no added music or narration.

Educational recreation produced with artificial intelligence assistance. The scenes illustrate cultivation, preparation and consumption practices; they are not a direct archaeological record and do not by themselves establish when each practice was adopted in the Aburrá Valley.

The cotton production sequence · Multilingual edition

Direction and concept: Julián de Jesús Pérez Ríos, Proyecto AD. Illustration: OpenAI. Animations of stages 2, 4 and 7 and sound generated with Google Gemini. Editing assisted by Codex.

Interpretative recreation of a regional production sequence. Cotton need not have been grown in the Aburrá Valley itself. Identifying it as the fibre of Aburrá’s mantas and maures is the author’s inference; the cloth wrap tied at the waist is inspired by Sardella. The loom and additional clothing are interpretative reconstructions.

The mute-dog hunting sequence · Multilingual edition

Direction, concept and scene selection: Julián de Jesús Pérez Ríos, Proyecto AD. Eight-stage plate illustration and composition assisted by Google Antigravity; video animations and sound generated with Google Gemini; documentary, bibliographic and multilingual integration assisted by Google Antigravity.

Hypothetical recreation grounded in Juan Bautista Sardella’s ethnohistorical account (1541) of “mute dogs” in the Aburrá Valley and in 16th- and 17th-century American chronicles (Oviedo, Las Casas, Landa, Sahagún, Garcilaso de la Vega and Cobo). It does not constitute direct osteoarchaeological evidence of canine hunting in the valley.

The ceramic operational sequence · La Morena, Envigado (didactic reconstruction)

Direction and concept: Julián de Jesús Pérez Ríos, Proyecto AD. Ten-stage plate base illustration: OpenAI; video animations and ambient sound: Google Gemini; editing and assembly: OpenAI Codex; editorial, documentary and multilingual integration assisted by Google Antigravity.

Hypothetical and interpretative reconstruction inspired by the small phytomorphic vessel from the La Morena site, Envigado, described by Gustavo Santos Vecino (2011, p. 77, note 27; photograph 32b, p. 78), associated with the Ferrería style and sharing features with Marrón Inciso. The ten-stage sequence combines general technological observations from the La Morena report with inferred steps; clip 8 displays a morphological and decorative variation relative to the reference piece and bears the on-screen notice “Esquema técnico · decoración no fiel al referente”. It does not constitute an exact archaeological reproduction.

Proyecto AD · original photographic archive

Photographs by Proyecto AD, 2007: landscapes of the Aburrá Valley, Girardota and Barbosa; Laguna de Guarne; soil profiles; crops; paths at Medellín–Santa Elena, Niquía–Corrales, El Hatillo, Girardota and La Presidenta; stone structures; metates (grinding stones); and other urban records. Captions identify them indirectly as ‘Proyecto AD, photographic archive of the original project; 2007’.

Proyecto AD · landscape photographs

Photographs: Proyecto AD. Camino de la Cuesta, Aburrá Valley, 2007; landscape modifications at Santa Elena, Medellín, 2007; La Galana, Aburrá Valley, 2007. The photograph of Pan de Azúcar hill retains its recorded date of 2006.

Sofía Botero Páez

Photographic records of collections at the Museo Universitario de la Universidad de Antioquia, Guayabal spindle whorls and other archaeological materials photographed in 2006; an enclosed field at Santa Elena photographed in the 1990s, with the precise year unconfirmed.

Oscar Botero

Photographs from 2004 of anthropomorphic vessels and points attributed to Niquía, originally incorporated through IDEA’s multimedia work Artes Plásticas en Antioquia.

Emilio Pineda

Spindle whorls from Jericó, Antioquia, photographed in 2007.

Luz Elena Martínez, GAIA and CORANTIOQUIA

Records of petroglyphs at Itagüí, Barbosa, Girardota and Támesis, made or compiled between 1991 and 2006. Current recreations retain a credit to the document used as their source.

Gustavo Santos and Archivo Histórico de Envigado

Plans, photographs and documentation of the stone-lined tomb at El Escobero, together with graphic information on funerary contexts at El Volador.

Jorge Fidel Castro and the 2007 archive

Photographs of fruit, maize, beans and guinea pigs at the Plaza Minorista José María Villa, together with technical and visual development of the original multimedia work. The original guinea-pig photographs remain documented in the archive, although the current gallery uses an educational recreation produced in 2026 to illustrate scale.

Carlos Cadena and the 2007 archive

Photograph of contemporary guinea-pig preparation at El Charco, Nariño, in 2007, retained in the historical archive. The current page replaces it visually with a recreation informed by institutional documentation of Nariño’s culinary practices.

Institutions and cartography

Museo Universitario de la Universidad de Antioquia, Museo del Oro del Banco de la República, IDEA, Área Metropolitana del Valle de Aburrá, DANE, IGAC, NASA, Natural Earth, OpenStreetMap, Servicio Geológico Colombiano and other institutions cited in individual graphics.

Fauna and food · 2026 recreations

Proyecto AD with AI assistance: a visual comparison of the ‘mute dog’ mentioned by Sardella with canine ceramics from Mexico and Peru; guinea pigs beside human feet to indicate scale; and a comparative scene of contemporary roasting inspired by a practice documented in Nariño. These are educational resources and do not replace archaeological evidence from the Aburrá Valley.

2026 recreations and infographics

Proyecto AD with AI assistance. Each resource identifies the photograph, object, plan, report or dataset that informed its production; additions made for teaching purposes are identified as reconstructions or hypotheses.

Vancouver referencing

Project bibliography

The bibliography uses a single Vancouver sequence throughout Proyecto AD. Each source receives a number on its first appearance and retains it in other sections, graphics and tables.

Catalogue editorial review: 16 October 2026. The 242 existing global numbers, internal identifiers and recorded links are retained. New sources documented during translation appear in an addendum without changing already reviewed citations; their integration into the first-appearance sequence will be coordinated across all pages before an integrated release.

Titles, authors and institutions retain their original languages. Editorial notes, document types and access information are translated into English. Access dates refer to earlier reviews: this update does not mean that all 242 sources have been consulted again or that every link remains operational.

242 of 242 references

Numbers follow the reading order: home page, Introduction, geographical setting, Timeline, stone and its subsections, food, and Symbolism. Repeated sources retain their numbers. Supplementary sources not cited along this sequence are placed at the end and identified as such. The historical bibliography from 2007 is retained in the project archive. DOIs and institutional links provide access to sources; numbering does not replace critical evaluation of their content.

Consult the statement–source matrix → The matrix links each cited passage to its global reference and identifies records without public access.
